2013 BMW i3

BMW i3 news on a roll today. Moments after the first BMW i8 spy shots, here is the first  spyhots. The  is the production version expected pure electric and Megacities BMW vehicles. The vehicle was spied in Scandinavia, where BMW-TV was working in his own movie.

The BMW i3 hit the market in 2013 and targets annual sales of at least 30,000 units. According to Ian Robertson, “Like all BMW Group products, the BMW i3 will be a premium car. This translates into a premium of at least € 40,000 in Europe.

BMW has just completed the Mini E program to assess the needs and demands of the people have a pure electric car. Will continue to do so with the 1st active mail program starting later this year. The BMW i3 will use the experience of BMW did and does in these programs. Here is a summary of the philosophy behind the design and consturction BMW i3:

Vehicle structure BMW i3:

Unlike most small cars, the Megacity would not be a unibody vehicle. Instead, its structure is similar to that of a body in the vehicle-frame. BMW describes the design as “two separate modules separated horizontally.” The bottom half is the “unity” of the module – an aluminum chassis that melts the battery, electrical drive system and the crash structure. High strength, lightweight carbon fiber interior is attached at the top. The main benefit is the reduction of weight, a primary consideration in reducing weight and cost of the battery, while providing sufficient range, Draeger said.

Materials and Manufacturing BMW i3:

Draeger said BMW suppliers to boost recycling 100 percent of the parts. Innovative use of carbon fiber to reduce weight is a key to the design work. BMW has partnered with Automotive SGL carbon fiber to build a carbon fiber plant in Moses Lake, WashingtonAñadió pieces that carbon fiber reinforced plastic is impregnated with color, eliminating the need for a paint shop. This will reduce energy consumption and emissions.
BMW is going to go all they can to reduce the cost of carbon fiber. BMW is to process waste reuse, enabled by a new technique to convert carbon chains in the fiber sheet, Stuermer said. BMW will use a “quasi-stamping process” again to make small pieces of carbon fiber reinforced plastic automobile manufacturers normally use, cost and time savings.

Recycling BMW i3:

BMW vehicle design for recycling, “said Draeger. But, he said, with the design of Megacities, its life cycle may extend beyond current expectations. “We could go back to the skin,” he said. “You could recycle the body in white [outer shell], although we are still working on that.”

Consumer financing BMW i3 :

BMW AG, Norbert Reithofer, CEO says the company’s initial VE will be expensive and probably lose money. May prompt the company to eventually extend the lease, perhaps with mandatory recycling of vehicles, Stuermer said. Otherwise, the cost of the car would be an obstacle, said: “Consumers are looking for a small car with proven technology that is likely to carry a large fare If you want to get in the garage of all, it is necessary reduced. the risk of ownership. “
